Each year the Bakehouse is happy to provide its customers with high quality holiday treats! This year is no different with a variety of items from pies and specialty breads down to our beloved gingerbread men.

Our History

Established in May of 2014 the Bakehouse at Chelsea was opened with the sole purpose of providing our customers with high quality, fresh, organic baked goods every day of the week. We began by forming an experienced and skilled group of chefs and bakers who continue to perfect their craft each day. With our customers constant support, city improvements in the area, and new business relationships the Bakehouse helped to transform the Chelsea area into the developed and cultured area it is today.

From start to finish a bakehouse pastry is hand crafted to achieve a level of culinary mastery that is difficult to find. At the Bakehouse, however, it is not enough to simply shape and bake but also to use the finest locally sourced ingredients available. From the rustic style French croissant to our highly sought after morning buns each pastry pays homage to local, fresh, and organic.

Every Morning at the Bakehouse we serve build-your-own breakfast sandwiches which pair perfectly with locally roasted coffee from Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting Co. Each sandwich is made to order with a variety of fresh, seasonal ingredients on top of our signature breads or croissants. Call ahead to make sure its your sandwich is hot and ready when you walk in.

The Bakehouse is perhaps best known for its Neapolitan inspired pizza. In order to achieve this style each pizza begins with naturally leavened dough, made with organic flour, shaped by hand, and baked in a wood burning oven. Our oven was specifically designed and built by hand to give our pizzas the crispy, charred crust that our customers have come to love. With such thought and process going into each pizza we believe there is no other way to eat one.

Relationship with the Birch |

The Bakehouse is fortunate to be a neighbor to The Birch, one of the top craft beer bars in the United States. The Birch welcomes customers to enjoy a Bakehouse pizza in their establishment or patio with one of their unique beer selections. The Bakehouse does not as of yet have an ABC license, so please make sure to keep alcohol within the Birch property.

Bread is perhaps the simplest of foods, with the process of bread making hardly changing over thousands of years. At the Bakehouse our mission is to keep this simplicity and in doing so create a perfected staple of food. Bakehouse bread is naturally leavened and made with organic flour. Each ingredient is locally sourced when possible and crafted into the beautiful pieces on display by our bread baker Hannah Symborski.With such care and craft going into each loaf its no wonder that bread was the idea that built the Bakehouse.

  • Multigrain Bakehouse | A rustic sourdough made of 60% whole wheat flour, 30% white flour and 10% rye flour, with a blend of 10 grains and seeds

  • Focaccia | An Italian style white flour bread made with olive oil and various toppings

  • Farmhouse | An enriched, yeasted white flour bread in a traditional sandwich shape.

  • Toast | An enriched white flour bread dotted with black sesame seeds in a traditional sandwich shape.

  • Challah | A five strand braid of traditional egg bread.
